From AUD $110.00
  • Duration: 120 Minutes (approx.)
  • Location: Margaret River, WA
  • Product code: BTST Degustation

The Behind the Scenes tour begins at 10:30 AM. Please meet at the cellar door, where your tour guide will welcome you.

The group will start by visiting the historic Wallcliffe Vineyard, established in 1970. (Please wear flat, closed-in shoes.) You will learn about Cape Mentelle's viticultural practices and how they influence wine styles and quality.

Discover the historical significance of the vineyard's location and the beginnings of Margaret River as a prominent wine-growing region.

As you stroll through the 53-year-old Wallcliffe vineyard, gain insight into the life cycle of the vine.

After exploring the original Wallcliffe vineyard, your host will guide you to the winery, where you'll witness the winemaking process firsthand.

You’ll receive a detailed explanation of how our wine is crafted, including the processes of crushing and destemming, fermentation, maceration, pressing, and barrel aging. You'll also learn about the different techniques used for making white and red wines while touring both the red and white cellars.

Step into the barrel hall, where you can experience the chill of the oak barrels aging Cape Mentelle wines.

The tour concludes with a food and wine pairing in the original vat cellar. This tutored tasting features six canapés paired with six current release wines. Your host will discuss the principles of food and wine pairing as you enjoy each dish and its corresponding wine, focusing on the wines and complementary food samples.
